The log posted was actually after setting username and password.
in addition the status reported was:

You can see from my ealier posts, I have tried both 2.1.0 and 2.4.0,
and now this 2.2.0 beta. The situation is the same: not able to
connect.
Also from other post you can see that I can ping Spotify from within
the NAS, so something may be different in the implementation of SBS on
the Qnap NAS that stands in the way for the Spotify plugin to function.
Would be nice if this could be solved.
