Basic system info is always useful such as SBS/LMS version, Distro name and version, audio subsystem (e.g. Pulse, ALSA, OSS) etc.
The "arecord" test is incomplete and should have redirected the output into a file and then you should check that the file is playable and is a recording of the audio output at the time.
