I too would appreciate knowing that the connection has been reestablishef upon wake from sleep. I find it frustrating to not have any feedback that my taps and swipes are for naught (mostly to adjust the volume or pause playback). Rather than yet another icon, I'd suggest that the screen be dimmed/blurred/de-saturated or something until the connection is re-established.
