Theoretically, if you have an "ALBUMARTIST=Various Artists" tag in all
your compilation albums, you might be able to do it with a "Tag
mapping" configuration in Custom Tag scanning module, by defining a Tag
mapping something like:
ARTISTSORT=oneof ALBUMARTIST(exp=^(Various Artists)$)|ARTISTSORT
With this tag mapping configuration the "ARTISTSORT" attribute in
Custom Scan should be set to:
"Various Artists" if there is an ALBUMARTIST tag set to "Various
Artists"
else
The value of the ARTISTSORT tag
Of course, even simpler would be to make sure all compilation albums
have a ARTISTSORT tag set to "Various Artists", in that case it would
work out of the box with your current Custom Scan configuration, but
this could probably create issues if you use the music files in other
applications which doesn't have a "Various Artists" concept.
In both these solutions, the "Various Artists" entry is going to end up
under "V" and not at the top of the menu. If you need it to be at the
top of the menu it becomes more complex.
