I'll have to look at this.
Usually, when iPeng reconnects to a server after losing a connection, it
waits for 30s (1 minute for it's own player) to see whether the player
shows up again and if it doesn't, it switches to a different one.
It also should try to immediately reconnect the player, sounds like this
fails for you for some reason.

So just turning off the screen and re-opening iPeng doesn't help?
I'll look into it.

I haven't heard about it, yet.

That's normal. It's a bit difficult to determine when the connection is
_really_ lost (iPhone keeps it "virtually" open for several minutes). I
somewhat suspect that this might also be the reason for the problem you
are seeing. I know we were having some issues with certain routers or
when switching between WiFi and 3G because the connection never failed.
This means, iPeng doesn't notice that it's disconnected (iOS reports the
connection as still open) and just doesn't get data and the data it
sends doesn't get through.
I just didn't think it happens if only 3G is involved.

iPeng tries to "run on" if it's uncertain about the status because it
uses quite a large internal buffer and hopes to recover while there is
still data in there instead of giving up at the first glimpse of
trouble. If you stop hearing music the actual loss of connection usually
has been like 40s or even longer ago.
