WOL on error seems to me the idea. I've been doing this from an appletv
(the hackable, os X based v1) to WOL on NFS access errors. Years on,
nobody complains.
It's an external process monitoring rise in the NFS error rate every
minute, so it is kind of slow to react. If squeezelite sends the wol
command then this should work faster. However the computer may take some
time to get up and running (esp. if it decides it's time to check
disksÂ…)
So hammering the server with a wol packet at the beginning of every song
(or every 5 minutes) regardless of server state might be a better
option. I think wol represents a very small network load, but I don't
have the figures in mind.
