Also, it depends on what you mean by mp3 vs flac libraries. I have both
mp3 and FLAC files, and they are in different DIRECTORIES. But I have
things structured generally as:

E:\music\FLAC\artist\album\tracks...
E:\music\mp3only\artist\album\tracks...
E:\FLACtoMP3\artist\album\tracks...

So for Squeezeboxes (LMS), I tell it that my library is contained in
E:\music. This picks up both my FLAC files and my mp3 files where there
is no FLAC version. So I can browse on Artist or Album without regard
to FLAC or mp3 because there are no duplicates in my LMS library.

Then for things like itunes where I only use lossy files, I tell itunes
that my music library is E:\music\mp3only. And then within itunes, I
select FILE > ADD FOLDER and add E:\FLACtoMP3\ directory to Itunes
library. So when done, iTunes contains all the mp3 only files and the
mp3 copies of FLAC files.

I use dbpoweramp to batch convert my FLAC files to mp3. Tag info and
artwork is automatically copied over, so this is easy. point and click a
couple of times and your complete FLAC library is converted, tags intact
to lossy mp3 files.
