I am still confused why 25% of my songs are missing. The mp3's are
'perfectly' tagged and my library is not that eclectic... I do see that

Nothing's "perfect" :-). Could you please share some of the missing files' metadata with me?

a large number of missed songs have brackets in them and maybe some
other funny characters. But when I use the upload thingy on missed

The plugin tries to deal with some of this (which has improved the situation considerably for me). But it can still need some improvement.

See below 2 examples for a Los Super Seven and an Angelique Kidjo song.

The big difference between the plugin's export and your test is that the plugin relies on metadata, whereas your test is uploading the full files. This latter method does an acoustic analysis of your file, thus is smarter. But you might understand that there's no way the plugin should/could upload all your library to the recognition. It would take hours/days/weeks (depending on your library size).

And the track/upload method imho does _not_ check whether the track is known in TEN's database, but does read your file (including metadata), analyse the music and return the information it has found in the file.

So I assume that the songs are in the TEN database, but not matched
somehow during the profiling?

This can happen, and it really depends on your tags. Can you send some of them to me?
