I thought this might be the case and I am partly to blame since I really
don't use the "album artist" tag in any meaningful way besides which I
would have to go back and edit the tags on most of music library, not
something I'm going to do anytime soon, if ever.

Again I thought this was the case. So that would leave several options:

1) Lower the match score.

2) See if the last.fm data can be modified.

2) Provide a way for the similar artists list to be modified by the
user, since the last.fm data often is not very good or useful.
