I suspect you're right about the headphone amp not being well isolated and I suspect it is LTE related. The old 3G is no longer an active phone so I only tested it with wifi. I just can't figure out why I only started to hear the EM noise recently. I've had the iPhone 5 for some time and actively used iPeng for a long time.
