The Foobar "Lyric Show 3" plugin is just brilliant at finding lyrics and writing them to the tag, once you work out how the settings affect it all. There is no documentation so it is all a bit hit and miss to begin with. I might put up another comment here with a brief guide on how I have set it up to work.
Using the Hydrogen Audio "Seek" (foo seek) plugin 'here' (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=88654) lets you add a whole stack of tracks as a playlist and then set it playing 6 second previews of each track.
