When i play a song, in the Smart Mix menu i can select 'create mix based
on current title'.

But when i use the + button on my remote or Radio then i have 2 options:
'song title' mix and 'artist name' mix. What is the difference between
these two choices? For example when i play Radiohead - Karma Police the
mix result for these two options looks the same for me.

When bringing up a context menu on some specific track (pressing the + button), then we know exactly what data we have available. Therefore we can create an artist specific mix, or song based. The generic menu you can browse to otoh is being built at any time, not knowing what will be or is being played when you actually select that item. Therefore it cannot know whether there is artist information available at all. It's doing a best effort mix which would be the same as the song mix option from the context menu, if all information is available.

The song mix would create a mix which is close in characteristics to this particular song. Artist mixes are less specific to song details, but rather to an artist. Imagine eg. The Beatles. In their early days they've done some classic rock'n'roll. Starting a song mix there would probably bring up more Elvis than an artist mix.
