you should be able to right click the file(s), and the popup menu should
have "EDIT ID TAG" function from dbpa that would show you all the tags
that are in that file and the value. You should see if COMPILATiON field
is there and if it has a value of "1". 

in dbpa, you can manually change any of the metadata info (artist, album
artist, genre, etc.) on the ripping page BEFORE you rip just by clicking
on the field and typing it in.  After the rip, you'd have to use EDIT ID
TAG or some other batch approaches to this in dbpa.
