thanks for a brilliant plugin! Just in case this helps anyone else.
I'm running LMS under Debian VM. My Squeeze clients are all in separate
Debian VMs running SqueezeLite.
I was battling to get the microphone input working from the host PC into
the VM. Eventually I found the issue.
When VMware presents the virtual sound card through to the guest, it
uses the default recording device on the host (running Win7) to pass
through as the microphone to the guest. As I had multiple recording
devices, I had wrongly assumed that the recording device would be the
one on the same card driving the speakers. I'll raise the issue with
VMware support as I would expect to be able to select the audio and
microphone inputs that make up the virtualised guest sound card without
having to specify the host defaults.
I had to adjust the levels on alsamixer but that was expected.
I also needed to add the user starting the LMS into the audio group (as
mentioned earlier in the thread);

Code:
--------------------
    usermod -a -G audio squeezeboxserver
--------------------

As soon as I did that and restarted everything works as expected! This
is great - I lost all my favourite radio stations when they all switched
to flash based streams so now I've got them all back again.
I was so close to giving in and splashing out on Sonos, I'm glad I
resisted ;-)
