libspotify.dll is provided by spotify - latest version is here, but I
think I am using it...

It should not max one of your cpu cores - it should be very quiet.  This
version does have another thread in it from the release version though
so you may see some more cpu activity.  Can you diagnose what it is
doing?  Also can you get a debug log from spotifyd.exe just before the
crash -is there any common activity before it crashes.
