You need to run the app as a separate program (on a Win PC, or on a Linux PC). To test whether your Samsung works, the easiest is to run the app on Windows. It runs as a terminal program - it will scan your network looking for an LMS server, and then any upnp devices. You should see the devices being listed. After a few minutes, type save config.cfg (hit return) Exit/close the app terminal. Run the app again - it should find LMS and your Samsung. Go to a squeezebox controller - select Samsung as the player - choose what LMS item you want to play. You may need to fine-tune some of the config.cfg values. The Samsung will work as an LMS player as long as the app is open on your PC. At a later stage it may be possible to run the app on your Synology alonside LMS - but for test purposes I'd recommend trying the app on a win PC.
