But the main differentiating feature of Google Cast is that NOTHING is being streamed through your battery powered, WiFi enabled mobile device.
Instead, the casting device (i.e., your smartphone or your Chrome browser) initiates an internet stream. The player, on the other hand, is being told to receive and play back that internet stream. Thus, Google Cast is battery friendly for the device acting as a remote control. However, Google Cast has two disadvantages (IMHO). First, a sufficiently stable and fast internet connection is always required. Second, the Google Cast SDK is proprietary and heavily controlled by Google (e.g., every app supported Google Cast must be registered and Google reserves the right to monitor what you do with the app as well as with the receiving device). ------------------------------------------------------------------------ poing's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=63617 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102853 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
