You don't need ffmpg.
Install *libav-tools*

On LMS install *PlayHLS* plugin. You need this repository:

In
-/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/PlayHLS/custom-convert.conf-
change all three *[ffmpeg]* to *[avconv]*
Restart LMS
