I've been having a browse of Triode's implementation of the RTMP transport protocol in perl as part of the IPlayer App. I've also been having a look at what other people have done implementing the HLS transport in scripting languages. I didn't see anything that frightened me too much. I think its fair to say that its not a pipe dream to say that a perl implementation of HLS could be done.
I'm pretty confident the BBC's use of HLS is here to stay for the medium term now that they are publishing the HLS urls as part of their audio on demand feeds. I would estimate its a couple of very full days work to create a testable piece of code, maybe more. I'm happy and interested enough to do that, gradually, spread over the next few weeks. I wanted to check that I wouldn't be embarking on something that is already being attempted by somebody else? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ expectingtofly's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=63263 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=53229 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
