Being somewhat ignorant about such things, how can local Powerline adapters affect DNS? Can other local network factors affect this? Does the external DNS server used make any difference?

Wireless Xubuntu 14.04 laptop with firefox/upplay or Android 'phone with Squeeze-Commander/BubbleUPnP controls LMS/Minimserver.
