ah bummer ... I used an alternative method that I was hoping would work
with all players, but it does not so I'll need to re-activate the
additional detection mechanism - will do this evening

No it is not. Your config says that 24 bits/48K do not need to be
transcoded so they will be sent directly to the Rocku but might not be
recognised by the Rocku. Can it do 24 bits ? Can you log that ?

It should be compatible. Normally, as long as LMS transcode things into
a format that is recognized by my system (which is in fact a set of
modified squeezelite so mp3,flc,pcm,aif work) that I then I forward to
the UPnP player, it should work. No sound means that the format sent to
the player is not fully recognised - example, if 24 bits does not work
with the Roku, I will happily receive a 24 bits files from LMS and send
it to the Roku but it might fail overthere. There is no way, to my
knowledge, to tell LMS that a certain sample size is not supported and
should be converted. If this really happens to be the problem, I can
probably do something inside sq2u for 24-16 bits conversion

Something I find confusing is the fact that when I choose the
SoundBridge in the plugin web interface all values equal to the default
values are blank. I am not sure if this is possible or how much work
this would require, but if those blank values would display these
default values maybe even in a different color you don't have to switch
back to [default parameters] to see the actual values and potentially
loose your changes.
I understand, but this one would be a big stretch - let me put that in the
todo list for n+1 version, but I'd like to clean 0.2.3 first :)

LMS 7.7.2 - 5 radio, 3 Boom, 4 Duet, 1 Touch, 1 SB2. Sonos 2xPLAY:1,
