Clive,

USB sticks are normally formatted with fat32, use the HP format tool to
quick format them

Load your music onto the stick.

Put the stick into the pi

Use the max2play web gui to reboot the pi .

On the web gui go to Filesystem Mount, scroll down the page to

On the LMS web page go to Settings>Basic Settings>Media Folders> click
the browse button.

On the Folder tree drop-down, highlight  

* /media/usb0*

Start the scan

When the scan is completed go to MY  Music and select a tune
