@Michael A nice side-effect of the new bitrate display: It shows very nicely, how the complexity of the music reflects itself on the file size! It also explains why mp3 isn't ideal for classical music at all. The more instruments, the more complex the sound the less you cam compress without losing quality. A piano-solo piece clocks in at a little over 300kbit (FLAC) while a big orchestra piece (like Richard Strauß Don Juan) takes up 750kbit. Also, the quality of the recording is partially reflected in that bitrate, at least I found that to be the case in some recordings. Said Don Juan varies from 500kbit to 750kbit (maybe some are higher) and the 750kbit (Mariss Jansons, Concertgebow Orchestra) has thr clearest and most detailed sound. But there are probably a lot of examples where the opposite is true... ;) Otherwise I'd have to request a "sort by bitrate" option for search results... :D
