Not at all, makes a lot of sense.
iOS autoresizes all views before launch based on the orientation and
from that point on calculates new sizes. A lot of this has changed with
the new size-flexibility due to the multitasking so probably some
initial value is wrong this way.

I almost exclusively use my iPad in portrait so am unlikely to catch it
plus normally the main menu is too small for it to become relevant
