No, it doesn't.
iOS handles this for you and it knows much better what to do.
Apps are not running in the background on iOS, they get suspended
(unless you use iPeng's "preserve connection" setting, which is a rare
exception). They also free most memory and if they don't, iPeng kill
them as soon as it needs memory.

You are actually using MORE resources if you do this yourself because
killing the suspended Apps means they need to be cold-reloaded which
requires a lot more processing than just unsuspending them.

And those Apps which DO use a lot of CPU in the background, like e.g.
navigation Apps, they use system services and do so even when you kill
them. Actually the issue mentioned above still applies: If you kill a
navigation App in the background and a minute later an event comes in it
needs to be cold-loaded which uses more CPU and battery.

iOS is smart with background use, don't try to be smarter, you are not.
The only reason to kill a background App usually is really if it hangs
in some buggy loop or if it plays audio and you want to stop that.
