I think if I go down the h/w route, which frankly would be a bit disappointing due to (a) extra cost (b) extra boxes and (c) the feeling of why is it necessary, I'll go with another 2nd hand SB3. Simply because I know it. Currently I have one plugged into the LineIn on my PC and it works fine, although it is v v slightly out of sync, but barely noticeable.
