I only have a DS115 to do some testing. But there are no reports of the
X86_64 package users I know!
Based on that, I would say there are no big risks.

If its not working now, installing Lmsupdate will not make it worse ;-)
But don't expect it to fix the problem either. Although it could because
of the amount of bug fixes implemented after December 2015.
Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the Erland plugins so, I doubt that
I could be of any help. Sorry.
