This is an esoteric 'fix' - it only applies if you have another airplay device on your system.
I run lms on an openpeak Joggler using a dedicated linux debian OS. Fortunately, this OS offers an option to enable Airplay as a receiver. In the airplaybridge I simply disabled the openpeak airplay device - so it doesn't appear in the lms players' list. However the Zipp does appear! And it stays connected as the 30 failed connects doesn't kick in. A kludge - but it works.
