There are various error messages in the spotifyd.log that point to possible errors, but I have no clue how one might resolve them.

When you login to Spotify in your account you will find a "device passwort" option. Are you using the device user name and the password you can set up there? Personally I think, the Spotify protocol handler is not able to properly connect to the streams. When one starts a playlist its normal that all tracks are skipped. The Squeezebox server log didn't contain any error that looked like transcoding problems.
