I need everyone's input, please.

I've worked with Plum in production now with hundreds of content items, and
the one thing that irked me the most was its inability to preview content
items in the actual display templates then instantly click back to the
editor to tweak changes.

So we're going to implement a content item preview feature in the Plum CMS.
The mechanism I think we should use is this:

1) We place a "Preview content item on save" checkbox below the existing CMS
rollover buttons under the WYSIWYG editor. The setting of this checkbox is
saved to your cookie so you don't have to keep resetting it.

2) If the checkbox is selected, Plum displays a preview of the content item
in a separate window using the targeted display template, regardless of the
item's status or schedule for display or the roles of the author (as long as
he is at least a Contributor).

3) If the content item is okay, the user just clicks the close box in the
browser window. If the content item needs work, the user clicks the close
box in the browser window and then continues editing the item in the WYSIWYG
editor, saves again, and the preview window displays again.

This sounds straightforward, but what if the user clicks the Save and Go
Back To List button instead of the Save and Continue Editing button? Should
we disable the Save and Go Back To List button if the Preview checkbox is
checked, or would that confuse people?

I don't want to display a control like the pulsing pencil in the display
template because it pushes other content down, and I want a true preview of
the content item.

Any suggestions?
