Hi Dan, I have a working solution that I wrote last year. I needed to modify existing software in order to implement "Update All Items" functionality in a shopping cart. Previously, the user would update an item in the list of items individually - each item is contained in it's own uniquely named form on the page with it's own submit button.
Basically, I used JavaScript and WDDX to serialize the state of the forms on the page when it renders in the browser, and do the same when the Update All Items button is clicked. The button is in it's own form and passes the serialized original state and the serialized updated state along in hidden form fields. The target page then un-serializes both into structures and loops through the original and updated values, and where they're different it calls the existing "update cart" functionality on that item. If this sounds like something you can use, let me know and I'll send you a copy of the code. There are a ton of different ways to do this and this particular one may not fit your needs, but if it does there's no sense re-inventing it. hth, Scott [EMAIL PROTECTED] -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Nall Daniel A GS-09 336 TRSS/TSUD Sent: Wednesday, March 16, 2005 12:58 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [plum] Multiple updates from single list form Hi Jeff, Yep, I kinda thought that would be the case. S'okay. I'll definitely share if I come up with a working solution. I've seen some VB and asp scripting that might do the trick if I can convert it to CF. BTW- I'm currently using CF7's report builder to generate dynamic reports from my database through my web app. Way cool. PDFs on the fly that look just like the paper based forms my instructors previously used. You will have to write your own custom code. Might want to take a crack at writing a custom tag for this. If you do, be sure to share what you do with the group.
