I just aliased the table name of the parent for each of the joins I needed. But I am confused. This message header describes multiple joins to the same parent (which is a child FK to the parent PK, which is a 1 to 1 relationship), but below you seem to be describing the opposite. Is that a typo? The child should have a FK to a parent, not the other way around.

Jeff,

How did you end up creating the view? I have the same situation with the
parent table having 3 fields that relate to the PK of a child table. I guess
I need a view with one record, not 3, so I need to flatten it out somehow.

Thanks. That's the way I'll handle it, then.

Unfortunately, there is no way to do this directly in the current version of Plum. You can, however, create a view with these columns aliased as you like and use that as your display table.

We'll add this capability to the project plan for the next major upgrade to Plum.

Subject: [plum] Multiple joins to the same parent

Hi All,

I have a situation where I have a child table with multiple foreign keys

to the same parent (Company), and I want to

display the names (alternate key) of the each of companies on a single

child view form. Is this possible? Is there a

way to Alias a table that I am not aware of?

This is not a problem on an add/edit form, because the

DisplayFilteredSelect tag has attributes which handle the primary

and foreign key specifications for you. This is not the situation with a

DisplayColumnOnForm tag on a view form, however.

Looking for the best way to approach this.

v/r,

Jeff
