As you've noted, one of the areas that's relatively easy to get started
with is documentation. Feel free to also start submitting patches for
bugs. It's my guess that you'll find the 1.1 code base the easiest to
dive into.
Once you've made the changes (code or docs) that you'd like to submit,
the best way to submit them is to do the following:
1) Create an SVN patch against the head revision
2) Attach the patch to the JIRA issue (or create a new one if it doesn't
exist yet).
3) Optionally orovide some background / explanation if you feel necessary.
