I've been assigned a project to monitor the network utilization of all ports on our link-out vlan to the Internet. I'm trying to verify if pmacct, with a Cacti implementation, has the ability to look at port usage. Unfortunately, my recommendation to monitor this activity at the FWSM has been rejected due to the high amount of load the firewall will experience. So I received the managment sledgehammer and I'm trying to find a solution. Anyhow, if someone could provide some useful information as to using pmacct as a solution it would be greatly appreciated.
