There's another nice perl script called mrtg_total.pl (http://www.geocities.com/josef_wendel/mrtg_total.html) which generates histograms showing, among other data, the inbound, outbound and total traffic passed through a NIC of a host having SNMPd enabled.
It's not very difficult to configure.I currently use this solution to graph the MPLS traffic that a client of mine has with his branches and it works pretty well.
