We run sfacctd for that amount of traffic and about 500+ servers. Have
enough memory and disk io speed available for mysql to do its work (if
you also want to read from the database realtime).

We run on centos5. Compiled ourselves (configure, make, make install)
and a custom startup script. Works fine.
