The whole conference was not as technical as I would have liked it to be - mostly just introductions to *new* technologies like Jini, JMS and other Web-services related stuff and companies that had success using them. Performance increase due to new memory model and gc in 1.4 and 1.4.1 and new IO were pretty big as well.
