what you can do is password protect the sheet(s) in a template. you should still be able to modify cells anyway.

As far as I know password protection will never be realized because of US

So there is no any way to protect sheet using POI.

Best regards,

Subject: Password protection

Hi,

I was trying to set password protection to a worksheet. I found
HSSFSheet.setProtect which presumably allows me the set protection. But
where/how to set the password? Any hints are highly appreciated.

YK
