I dont know how to do either (build or package). I didn't succeed.
I would like to start with building the client then worrying about packaging
later.

I'm confused. I assumed you were trying to package the client.
Packaging the client and building the client are two different things.
It's easier to build the client than to packaging. What did you try
to do to build the client ? Did it succeed ?
