That looks like a webkit/khtml issue, since safari has the same pb.

It's working, but keep in mind there might be some codecs issue (at
least for ogg, pcm/wav should be playable everywhere), since it will
play the file using specific backend (with different codecs installed)
on each platform.

We may take a peek at the new <audio> tag introduced by HTML5,

Which come with a nice JS interface:
http://www.whatwg.org/specs/web-apps/current-work/#media5

But I believe, it might not be well supported in all browsers yet.
