I'm going to need a little help here.  There is now a Makefile in the
source code, but it looks like it's attempting to download some ruby
gems from the Internet and make use of them somehow, and also there is
still no 'install' target for the project.

What are the correct steps for taking a source release and turning it
into something useful?
