Summary of this afternoon's events:

* DOJ said in court that they have no problems with the nine-state deal and 
will not be a party to future litigation in this case.
* Nine states (NY, Michigan, Ohio, NC, Kentucky, Louisana, Maryland, 
Illinois, Wisconsin) have settled with Microsoft and agreed to a modified 
version -- details to come -- of the DOJ's agreement inked last week.
* Nine states and the District of Columbia are going to pursue the 
litigation. There were some hints in and out of the courtroom today that 
additional states currently in the pursue-Microsoft-through-the-courts 
coalition may defect. Personally, I kinda liked the 
fist-clenching-beat-up-Bill-Gates attitude exuded by Connecticut's top law 
enforcement official:
