Declan:

I have been a long time subscriber to this list and just wanted to respond
to the email sent out yesterday regarding KPMG, LLP and its linking
policy. The company that has that policy is KPMG, LLP, the "Big 5" tax and
assurance firm, not KPMG Consulting, Inc. the technology consulting
firm. KPMG Consulting was spun off on February 8 of this year in an
initial public offering and is a completely separate, independent,
publicly-traded company (NASDAQ KCIN). KPMG, LLP does not do technology
consulting and KPMG Consulting does not have a linking policy similar to
that of the tax and assurance firm.

All of the press surrounding this seems to be confusing the two companies
by calling KPMG, LLP a technology consulting company, like Ms. Slater does
below. I just wanted to set the record straight that KPMG Consulting,
Inc., based in McLean, Va., which is a technology consulting company, does
not in fact have a linking policy like that of KPMG, LLP, the tax and
assurance firm. KPMG, LLP sent the notice to raettig.org, not KPMG
Consulting, Inc.

Let me know if you have any questions.

  Robert E. Jones, III
  KPMG Consulting, Inc.
