Hi Declan,
Australia is burgeoning as an international supplier of speed and red light traffic camera systems through companies such as Redflex Holdings (http://www.redflex.com.au/) and Poltech (http://www.poltech.com.au/).

However, the Victoria Police has as much as admitted that the fine-paying public is rapidly losing faith in speed cameras after two recent examples of cameras failing badly.

In the first instance, a car that was shown to have a top speed of 117kmh was booked doing 158kmh in a 100kmh zone (http://heraldsun.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5478,7720347%255E2862,00.html). The female driver had to submit her vehicle to an engineering test to prove it was not capable of reaching the speed she was booked at.

In the latest example, a truck was booked in an 80kmh zone, allegedly doing 174kmh (http://www.abc.net.au/news/australia/vic/metvic-10nov2003-11.htm).
Both speed cameras have been in operation for a significant time. The maker of the cameras has not been identified.

I'm using my work email address to send this, so I'd appreciate if you can remove reference to it if you decide to distribute this on Poltech.
- Barry
