Hi Declan,
Your readers may be interested in the story of Deidra Stokes, a Detroit
honors student who was arrested outside of her high school while waiting
for her mother to pick her up after her Upward Bound college prep class.
The charge was "impeding pedestrian traffic", and the charges were
dismissed by the judge after a police officer failed to show up for
court, but in effect, the police arrested her for failing to show ID
upon request, ostensibly as part of a security sweep in preparation for
an appearance by Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.
