Nick got up,
grabbed a drink then sat back at the table, still holding onto the drink. "did
you want this?"
"You're lucky you're
cute, Nick Boyle." she teased him before holding out her hand for the glass and
finally taking a drink of it when he finally handed it over, boyish grin
included. She was about to take a drink when Kat finally asked her
question and then paused in mid-motion.
"Well," Kat started slowly
not know exactly how to ask this question. "What it like being
dead?" Hurriedly she added, "my daddy and brother are......can they come
home too?"
Derek had finished up in the control room and herded Alex out to eat. As they reached the drawing room he over heard the young girl's question and groaned inwardly. "Kat...," he said a mild warning tone in his voice. He didn't want either one of them getting upset and wasn't certain this was an appropriate conversations to be having. Julia blinked and set her
glass and plate down, regarding her for a moment. "It's okay Derek."
Kat was smart and it was only natural that she would want to know.. especially
if... had they died there too...?
She looked at Nick and then Derek, then
turned back to Kat. This wasn't really the place, true. There were
others there and some of them, thankfully not having heard the question because
they were at a distance while eating.. or at least she hoped not as she was sure
at least one of them wasn't a Legacy Member... but Kat still deserved to
know.
She swallowed once and reached for one
of the girl's hand, her tone quiet, gaze sincere "Maybe we should go
find your mother and talk. I'll answer what I can... but we should maybe
talk about this when there aren't so many people around and your mom can be with
you. Would that be alright?"
Kitty Kat, the word whispered out
to her and she blinked looking at Kat. Then she gently released her hand
and started to stand, looking at the two men in a silent request to go with them
"Does anyone know where Ms. Corrigan is?" And, of course, it would
ultimately be up to Rachel as to whether this discussion or what kind of
discussion was going to happen. But Julia didn't feel it fair to brush Kat
off or try and dismiss her curiosity, at least didn't feel like it was her place
to tell her she couldn't ask. She held out her hand to Kat and looked at
Nick, hoping she didn't see the pained expression of earlier.
