Sam was relieved by some of his words and irritated by others. Of course
she was on edge from stress and lack of sleep, which didn't help matters.
"She's not a what," she put in irritably.

Reese put her hand on her friend's forearm and smiled, looking at her father
"Mom may have made some mistakes but she was afraid I was going to be taken
away. Faulty or not, I can't hold it against her when she acted with a
mother's instinct.
Then she gave Sam a teasing wink, "And I'm sure Milo didn't mean anything by
it. I mean how many people can say they not only found a daughter they

"Both of you make up." she told them both and went back to eating and
surprising even herself by her take charge ideas -- even if she was pretty

attempt to keep from breaking down in such a public place "Sam's protective
of me with good reason. After all, even with the first call, we were both
told that my father was dead since I was old enough to ask."
"And.. I suggest," she said after she lifted her coffee to take another
drink and seeing small heat bubbles popping and her tone totally casual,
which was a warning in itself "We do move this somewhere else pretty soon.
Anyone ready for a doggy bag?"
