Derek:
Derek looked down at their joined hands, relieved that he hadn't expected
him to teach the kids. Kat was one thing, but 7 or 8 8 year olds was a
different matter entirely. He did not need credentials to teach, but didn't
think he would survive doing such a thing. Kat alone drove him ot the brink
at times andhe loved her. There were some other problems too. "She's in a
private school," he explained to her. "I don't know how Rachel would feel
about something like that and I'm not certain we have the authority to take
her out of her school completely. Yes, he did have a notice giving him
permission to look after Kat and make sure she got medical care if she was
sick or injured and Rachel, for whatever reason was not available. However,
he did not have Rachel's power of attorney and he thought he might need that
for such a radical decision. "I don't know Julia, I'll...." just then his
cell phone began to beep frantically. He pulled it out noticing the message
scrolling across the tiny LCD screen. "Gott," he said his accent increasing
significantly. He looked back at Julia squeezing her hand. "We'll have to
talk about this later." He stood up and started towards the door.

He'd known something wasn't right about Megan and now, with the information
Julia had given him, things were clicking into place. It had to be Horton,
or someone helping Horton. Either way, derek was going to take care of it
immediately.
