Derek smiled a little sheepishly, "well....in some things perhaps." As much
as he loved her he couldn't imagine that he would ever indulge her every
whim. Sometimes it just wasn't practical or more importantly safe. He put
his hand on top hers as it rested on his arm and began to walk towards the
gate house once more. He realized he liked the feeling of touch, even
something so simple.
"The important things." she agreed with a smile of her own as she walked
with him "Personally, I happen to like indulging you when I get the chance."
"And I think we should relieve Ingrid to indulge herself in a break. She's
been helping since this afternoon."
He wasn't the only one that enjoyed the simple act of just touching. Of
course she more than enjoyed the rest, she thought with a twitch of her
lips, but she was happy with doing something as simple as holding hands, or
even sleeping beside him.
Or working with him.
They got close enough to the gatehouse to see through the windows. The
bedroom ones were drawn, the curtains closed but Julia could see the doctor
and nurse in the livingroom and it looked like they were discussing
something.
The nurse caught sight of them and headed to open the front door and greet
them "Doctor Rayne, Ms Walker."
She stepped back to let them in "We were just discussing Doctor Corrigan's
status."
