Philip leaned close to Kristen's ear, whispering low "If we get a chance, I
want you te run. Run and get te Derek. Don't argue."


  Kristen flashed Philip a tight smile and an almost imperceptible nod.  
While she wasn't exactly thrilled with the idea of leaving him and the 
others in danger, but she knew Philip could take care of himself, along with 
everyone else.


A few minutes later, Philip saw the chance and, sparing a look at Kristen to
forgive him, took the opening he found.
"Forgive me." he whispered as he lunged into motion, grabbing Kristen by the
arm and wrenching the back door open and throwing her out to where she had
to roll down a slight slope as they started to get onto the freeway.


  Being completely unprepared for Philip's sudden action, Kristen hit the 
ground a little harder than she should have, but as she ended her short roll 
at the bottam of the slope she knew she wasn't seriously hurt.  She got to 
her feet just in time to see the car she'd been in only moments ago slide 
into the ditch.  Fortunately, they hadn't reached the freeway, so no 
innocent bystanders had been hurt.  Philip wasn't following her, but she 
could see movement within the car-that was all she needed to see; she spun 
around and started running.

  Kristen knew there was a little coffee shop down the street-it was the 
closest place to the freeway on-ramp that she could think off which would 
have a phone.  She'd only need a moment to make one call...
